The hands-on role will require the successful candidates to work inclusively within the team ensuring quality and efficiency of scheduled work to meet clients’ deadlines.
We are seeking an experienced Metal Machinist to run a variety of machines. This position offers a great variety of work. The applicant must be a trade qualified machinist.
As a machinist, your everyday responsibilities will include:
- Setting and operating manual machines to shape and form metal stock to fine tolerances
- MUST be able to interpret engineering drawings
In addition, the right candidate will be required to:
- Focus on quality and efficiency
- Possess Certificate III/IV in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent apprenticeship.
- Be able to perform in a team environment and also work autonomously
- Have a strong focus on workplace safety and quality
- Maintain QA and production records as appropriate
- Be involved in ongoing improvements and learning
- Have a driver’s license and own transport
Experience in the following areas is highly desirable.
- Currently working as a Fitter and or Machinist
- Be able to read and work in metric and imperial
- Sound fault finding history
- Strong commitment of support to the fitting team.
- Promote a health and safety culture within the team.

Job Description
We have current opportunities for either school-based or full-time Fitter and Turner Apprentices. This role will give you the opportunity to learn and develop essential skills in the field of machining, fabrication, and mechanical engineering. This apprenticeship will provide hands-on experience and comprehensive training under the guidance of our experienced team.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the assembly and disassembly of machinery and equipment.
- Perform precision machining tasks using lathes, milling machines, and other tools.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on machinery.
- Collaborate with senior fitters and turners to troubleshoot and solve mechanical issues.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.
- Attend training sessions and classes to enhance technical knowledge.
About you
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in machinery.
- Basic understanding of tools and equipment used in fitting and turning.
- Good numeracy and literacy, problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
